Yi Cun Master: Yes, this wooden lamp adopts the shape of the Japanese garden lamp. Historically, during the Tang and Song dynasties in China, Buddhism was introduced to Japan from China, and so were the lamps in Buddhist temples, which later formed the present style of the Japanese lamp.
Yi Cun Master: Initially, I made this wooden lamp to put in the house for students’ sketching. Later, I felt that the courtyard needed a bright spot for people to linger a moment longer. enchanted by the nature around them, so I put it in the courtyard.
Yi Cun Master: When I made this wooden lamp, I did not have a design, but found some pictures of Japanese lamps on the Internet for reference. When tired from painting and sculpting, I worked on the lamp as a break, which took me about a week to make. If friends are interested and want to build their own, I will make a video, record all the steps, and share the design drawings as well.
